March 9, 2018 the ocean looked a little more inviting this morning, surfers enjoyed some cleaner waves at the lighthouse. Water temps are still pretty cold in the 40-50 degree Fahrenheit range. Scroll down for some fun sequences from the morning and late afternoon.
March 8, 2018 water has receded from route 12 in Avon and Buxton and remains open to traffic. Waves were unorganized but definitely a few hollow ones to boost the island morale. Update March 6, 2018 I walked around Rodanthe this evening in disbelief. The houses are buried in sand. NCDOT NC 12 crews are working hard to remove the sand off route 12.
