July 30, 2020 I met the Segar family from Currituck, North Carolina at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse for their daughter Mackenzie’s senior portraits. We had a beautiful but slightly windy evening with the beach all to ourselves.
Mackenzie is a Senior this year at J.P Knapp Early College in Currituck North Carolina. She lives on a small Island on the Boarder of Virginia Beach and North Carolina, which is actually part of OBX (even though it is 3 hrs away from Hatteras). Before Covid and virtual learning, to get to and from school she had two options; she could have either driven around which is 45/50 mins or take a 45 min ferry ride which docks 1 min from her school. Of course the ferry is always her 1st choice since she gets to socialize or sleep longer if needed and save on gas!
When shes not at school or with her friends she is working full time at a rescue horse farm. This was her first job and she absolutely loves it. So much so it has made her realize she wants to become a Veterinarian, focusing mainly on small animals, but would love to work with some large animals as well.
Mackenzie hopes to attend either Virginia Tech or NC State next fall so she can continue the veterinary program. Right now she would prefer Tech over NC State only for the reason she loves the outdoors. Exploring, hiking, whitewater rafting, softball and skating.
“We as parents couldn’t be more proud of the person she is becoming. We we’re so excited to book her senior portraits to commemorate this milestone,” expressed her mom, Megan. Scroll down for a few beautiful frames with Mackenzie and her sweet family.
