Lighthouse Engagement Portraits, Outer Banks Photographer

May 30, 2020 I worked with Courtney and Andrew at the Old Lighthouse Beach to capture their engagement portraits underneath the dreamy island sunset sky.

Andrew and Courtney started dating when they were just 14 years old. The couple grew up in Chesapeake, VA spending time outdoors; kayaking, playing soccer, fishing, and hiking. After high school they both attended JMU in Harrisonburg, VA where she studied Accounting and he earned his Bachelor’s of Science. They have been told by many friends and family members that they are different from the average couple for a few reasons. For one they practically grew up together, through the awkward time of braces, getting their licenses, and applying for college. Their family and friends also placed a large importance on both of them in figuring out who they were in college. Andrew is currently in his second year of PA school in Lynchburg, VA so they are currently engaged in a long distance so Courtney can continue her career until Andrew graduates. Although it is a challenge they are so excited to finally have their Outer Banks wedding of their dreams on September 18, 2021 at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina.

The couple expressed coming down to Hatteras after COVID quarantine was such a needed break from all the craziness at home. Their hometown in Virginia was still in Phase 1. Courtney explained” being able to go out to restaurants during our one night stay in Hatteras was just what they needed to feel normal again. We chose Hatteras for our engagement pictures, because it has always been our happy place. Growing up, my family stayed at the old Creeds Hill Life Saving Station and can remember getting ice cream at the Frisco Pier and going deep sea fishing with my dad and uncle every summer. I remember spending nights lying in bed and falling asleep to the ocean sounds with the windows open because there was no air conditioning. As soon as Andrew and I started dating, he would tag along on our family vacations to either Hatteras or Ocracoke and he quickly fell in love with the slow pace of the Outer Banks.” Scroll down for a few frames with Courtney and Andrew.
