Mike and Chris met in February, 1998 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida while Chris was visiting relatives and Mike was competing in a tennis tournament. For the three days they were in Florida together they spent as much time as they could getting to know one another. From sitting by the pool and talking, dinner at one of the many restaurants on the A1A, to sitting on the beach until the sunset they both felt a connection. After those three days, they both said their goodbyes and headed back home; Mike to Michigan and Chris to western New York.
Throughout the next few months they spoke on the phone, emailed each other daily, and both of them made the five hour drive through Canada to visit on weekends. Eventually, Chris’ job transferred him back to his home state of Ohio. It was then that Mike decided to transfer to Ohio with his company to be with Chris. They found a home halfway between their jobs and lived there for two years before moving to Raleigh North Carolina, where they live today.
Throughout their 18 years together, Mike and Chris have visited Hawaii, Alaska and taken cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Mike enjoys writing poetry, crocheting, and is an avid movie aficionado. Chris enjoys photography, fishing and recently has taken up fitness training. They both enjoy cooking, visiting with friends and family, playing tennis, and their annual week at the beach in Corolla, NC.
Mike and Chris chose Corolla, NC for their beach wedding ceremony because they have vacationed there with family and friends every year for the past twelve years making it a special place to them.
On September 11, 2016 I drove north to Corolla for Christopher and Michael’s perfect oceanfront wedding. As I was driving to their beach home, the storm clouds rolled in. I was watching the radar and it looked as though the cold front was pushing in bringing rain that would hit right after the ceremony. The rain came a little earlier and instead postponed their wedding ceremony by about 15 minutes. The rain rolled in and out quickly bringing a rainbow for their beach wedding and beautiful clouds to give their perfect day and an even more perfect backdrop.
Their beach home had a view from the back of the Currituck Lighthouse. We decided to head on over to the Lighthouse and Whalehead Club to take a few photos after the ceremony. On my way home south to Hatteras Island, the cold front was in full view as the clouds rolled over Pamlico Sound and Route 12.
The couple’s wonderful local Outer Banks Wedding Vendors included, Great Cakes for their delicious chocolate cupcakes and key lime wedding cake. Currituck BBQ Company catered their delicious food. Corolla Classic Vacations for their beautiful oceanfront vacation home. Please scroll down for a few frames of Christopher and Michael’s perfect Corolla beach wedding.
