Inspiration for anyone living with type I diabetes and/or celiac disease. Jennette’s Pier, OBX, North Carolina.

Suzan found my photography profile on instagram, about a year ago. I have been corresponding with Suzan via instagram and email for a few months now, preparing for her trip and photo shoot to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Yesterday I finally had the opportunity to get to know and work with Suzan, during her sunrise session at Jennette’s Pier. Although we were hoping to see the sunrise during our session, the foggy, color changing sky was just perfect.  Suzan’s journey is nothing short of inspirational.

Suzan has been living with Type I Diabetes for 30 years now. She currently is using the diabetic insulin pump which delivers rapid-short-acting insulin 24 hours a day through a catheter placed under the skin. She proudly wore her pump during our photo session. A few years ago, Suzan went from active and healthy, to bed ridden for a year, feeling as if she was twice her age. She had body aches and joint pain, constantly feeling ill.  As a mother of two, Suzan was desperate to figure out what causing this low quality of life she was living.  Visiting many doctors with no luck figuring out what was wrong, causing her all the pain and discomfort. For over 6 years she tried to loose 30 pounds without having lasting results.

Here are some images Suzan provided me with. Throughout this blog post you can see her healthy lifestyle transformation journey, from beginning to currently.

About two years ago, Suzan began her journey to clean eating and detoxing her body. During her journey she also discovered she has Celiac Disease. Causing allergic reactions to gluten. Suzan has since rid gluten from her diet! She recognizes her diabetes and celiacs are better managed, when she eats clean and has less excess body  weight.

After trying for 6 years on her own without  lasting luck, she discovered Beachbody fitness programs and Shakeology. Suzan claims,  “between the amazing nurtrition from Shakeology, the awesome workouts and world class trainers and eating clean, I have been able to loose 30 lbs and 29.5 inches, in 9 months.”

Since the fall of 2014 Suzan has been maintaining and enjoying her fitness routine. She really enjoys her new found passion as a Beachbody coach and helping people find solutions and a wholistic natural way to live. She explained how it is not easy for her clients to make the decision to transform. However, they trust her to help get them through the programs and allow her to build their mindsets so they are educated and strong to pursue the healthy lifestyle. “It ultimately changes people from the inside out. happy, confident and strong would be the three words to describe a client who has worked hard on their journey. ” ~ Suzan.

During our session my goal was to capture Suzan’s glow and happiness that her two year life bettering journey has brought her. Suzan’s beautiful, amazing and inspirational orah came out during our shoot. We spent almost two hours together just talking and getting to know one another during the photo shoot. With the help of a few wardrobe changes to fulfill her fitness journey and transformation story.  I was so inspired by her  during our session.  Please check out a few frames below from our foggy morning photo session at Jennette’s Pier, OBX, NC.
